This map gives access to a number of open-source socio-economic, environmental and political datasets that could have had or still be having some influence on the development of the fracking industry within the UK. The main goal of this project is to the investigate the major interactions in with respect to space and time using the power of GIS. The development of this map demonstrates some of the data that will be useful within our research and gives an initial qualatitive view of the unconventional hydrocarbons landscape across the UK. This research has made possible throught the NERC funded ASSIST (Atitudes towards Shale gaS in Space and Time) project
Please select a layer(s) by hovering over the globe icon right hand corner of the map. You can click on multiple layers but we suggest to minimise this to a few so not to clutter the map with too much information. Please be patient for our servers to send the image back to you which will be presented as image overlays. You can minimise each group within the legend by clicking on the title - this will also remove all of the layers on the map. Some layers will bring up further legends describing the colour schemes used
